Mehmet Fatih Oztarsu
Dr. Mehmet Fatih Oztarsu is the Deputy Director of the Seoul Institute of Global Affairs (SIGA).
His research focuses on regional studies, particularly the South Caucasus and Central Asia, with an emphasis on ethnic and regional conflicts. He has served as a media observer in the United States in collaboration with the International Center for Journalists and participated in the politics and leadership program at the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C., and New York. He is also a member of the Young Turkey/Young America Fellowship Program at the Atlantic Council and the Korean Society of Contemporary European Studies.
He has worked with several think tanks, including TEPAV and SDE, focusing on related areas of study. He regularly contributes articles on the Caucasus, Central Asia, and East Asian affairs to various newspapers and media outlets in the Caucasus region and South Korea.
He received his Ph.D. in International Relations from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the same field in Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, respectively. He is the only Turkish analyst to have studied and lived in all three capitals of the South Caucasus.
His articles have been published in outlets such as The Diplomat, CEPA, E-IR, and The Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst. He is currently a Professor at Joongbu University and a Senior Researcher at the Institute of EU Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
