Tomasz Wierzbowski
Dr. Tomasz Wierzbowski serves as the Country Representative of EURAXESS Korea, where he plays a central role in strengthening research and innovation cooperation between Europe and Korea, particularly within the framework of Horizon Europe – the EU’s flagship funding programme for research and innovation. His work focuses on connecting researchers, institutions, and policy stakeholders to advance the European Research Area and promote sustainable, high-impact international scientific collaboration.
Alongside his coordination and policy-oriented activities, he maintains a strong academic profile. He is an Adjunct Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul and also serves as a Visiting Professor at Joongbu University. His teaching portfolio includes International Relations, social science research methodology, and the European Union’s role as a middle power in global affairs. He also teaches courses in international trade and area studies, with a focus on Europe and Northeast Asia. Through his teaching, he combines academic rigor with practical insights, fostering critical thinking and global awareness among students from diverse backgrounds.
With over a decade of experience spanning academia, public policy, and international cooperation, Tomasz has developed extensive expertise in research mobility, capacity building, and access to EU funding instruments. His work has contributed to building a dynamic ecosystem of stakeholders engaged in the European Framework Programmes, supporting their effective participation in Horizon Europe – particularly in the context of Korea’s association to the programme from 2025 onward.
Tomasz obtained his master’s degree in political science from Sungkyunkwan University with support from the Korea Government Scholarship Program. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
