Polar Affairs

SIGA’s Polar Affairs program examines strategic, environmental, and geopolitical developments across the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Areas of focus include polar security architectures, great power competition in the High North, resource sovereignty and critical minerals, and the evolution of the Antarctic Treaty System.

The program aims to assess how polar dynamics, driven by climate change and the opening of new maritime routes, reconfigure global trade, security, and international governance.
